world class genomics and proteomics facility in India

The Centre for Genomic Application (TCGA) - a collaboration between the IGIB [a Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) organization which is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST)] and IMM-The Chatterjee Group, a Kolkata-based industrial house is working towards providing world class genomics and proteomics facilities in India. It is the first to be built by a public–private partnership. It also symbolizes the current revolution in India's biotechnology industry. The centre provides facilities for the folowing-

This centre is truely applicable in indian condition, equipped with all latest instruments to provide current technologies in India to maintain need of our researchers in this cutting edge research environment. It is working like central facility, service is quite good and fast.As all labs can not buy such costly equipments on their own because of lack of funds, TCGA provides a plateform for various application at reasonable cost.
On the centre's first birthday in May 2005, TCGA acquired a new Hewlett-Packard supercomputer, the fastest in India, worth a whopping US$2.2 million. Capable of four trillion operations a second, the computer places the centre among the ranks of international institutions such as the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute in Britain and the Institute for Molecular Science in Japan.
We hope that these new technologies will help indian science grow much better than ever........
