Career options : Integrated MSc course


Mumbai University is getting ready to roll out a five-year, integrated MSc course for students straight out of class XII. The curriculum has been designed by some of the country’s top scientists, the infrastructure is cutting-edge and the visiting faculty are actively involved in research.

The MoU, between the university and the government of India’s Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), envisages the setting up of a Centre for Excellence in Basic Science (CBS) that will offer integrated MSc courses in physics, chemistry and biology.

Though students of chemistry and biology will have to wait for some more time but Mumbai university is ready to start the course in physics this year.

students will be selected after a rigorous entrance examination, the National Entrance Selection Test, to be held in centres across India. Students will be short-listed after the entrance test and the final selection will take place after an interview.

This is an ideal course after XII for those who wish to make their career in research. Students having more than 60% marks will be eligible to appear for the entrance test and those who get selected will be paid Rs 3000/month.

Sooner the better, students will get exposed to research environment in early age of their career as this course will associate eminent scientists of the field.
