Mumbai first heavy rains

Mumbai got its first taste of heavy showers on Saturday as rains lashed Mumbai in the evening, leading to flooding in various parts and disruption of traffic. Train services on the central line between Kurla and Ghatkopar were disrupted for sometime. Thunderstorms coupled with strong winds and heavy showers also brought operations at the Mumbai airport to a standstill for about half-an-hour in the evening, causing delays in schedules.

Colaba received the heaviest rain of 60 mm in one hour during late evening, said municipal commissioner Jairaj Phathak. The weather bureau has predicted rain/thundershowers with “possibilities of very heavy rains’’ on Sunday.

The first heavy rain itself has proven that BMC and MMRDA has not done their job completely as we could see water logging at many places, traffic problems because of incomplete roadside constructions.

We wish that we will not have to experience 26/7 again. Hoping that, enjoy rains........
